Work package 5 - Innovative Lifelong Learning
Coordination and monitoring: by M. Eleftheriou (AMC Ltd)
Aim: To identify opportunities and help realise coherent pathways for lifelong learning in the sector in response to the challenges now facing education, developing innovative ICT tools and guidelines to enable greater transparency in assessment criteria and definitions of competence
3 WPs (WP5 Innovation in Teaching Methods , WP6 Positioning Lifelong Learning & WP7 Multilingual Issues in LLL), with good interlocking results from the previous Aqua-tnet are combined into one WP aiming to deliver innovative best-practice courses, methodologies, guidelines and tools to create or improve effective teaching, learning and assessment methodologies in LLL. WP5’s remit kept pace with phenomenal technological change in the project’s timescale; its case studies, frameworks and learning communities deliverables for ICT mediated learning will be linked to WP6 survey results for innovative materials to aid flexible learning pathways in LLL as well as WP7 online multilingual language courses and Language Induction Game. WP6 surveys on LLL in tertiary education is the basis for work on the European Charter for LLL, with training in the use of learning outcomes. Quality standards will also figure in this restructured WP, which will also update the current TUNING application. WP5 is the largest workpackage and is organised into three sub-groups:
A. Sub-group A (Lifelong Learning pathways) will analyse articulation between different educational
sectors, in particular linkages between formal and informal learning; will contribute to the setting up
of the ECVET system within the EQF; recognition of prior learning; promotion of LLL in the sector by
training in using Learning Outcomes, based on WAVE and VALLA projects.
B. Sub-group B (Improving /Harmonizing curriculum frameworks, qualifications and assessments); supporting EUA Charter for Lifelong Learning model; presenting course curricula, changing curricula needs, flexibility in curricula; quality standards; updating TUNING template
C. Sub-group C (Tools & Methods) Exploring the cutting edge of teaching/learning using innovative technologies and approaches delivered in Aqua-tnet 2008-11.
