1. EUA Report on Collaborative Doctoral Education
The European University Association (EUA) recently announced the completion of a two-year study to build dialogue with and amongst those engaged in collaborative doctoral education. The DOC-CAREERS report underlines that collaborative doctoral (PhD) programmes, established between universities and industry, are becoming increasingly important across Europe. The study “Collaborative Doctoral Education: University-Industry Partnerships for Enhancing Knowledge Exchange” involved 33 universities, 31 companies, and 18 other stakeholder organisations, from 20 different countries across Europe. It highlights that both universities and business consider collaborative doctoral programmes as important channels for supporting both innovation and recruitment efforts.

2. Handbook on Writing Learning Outcomes
"Writing and Using Learning Outcomes: A Practical Guide" by Dr Declan Kennedy is a short, clear, readable handbook which introduces teachers to the concept of learning outcomes and how to write them. This publication is an international bestseller and has already been translated into ten languages. The handbook provides practical advice on:
* the wording of learning outcomes
* how to write learning outcomes for programmes as well as individual modules
* how to link learning outcomes to assessment methods
* comprehensive examples of learning outcomes from courses with diverse disciplinary backgrounds.

3. EUA Report on Masters Degrees in Europe
The European University Association (EUA) has recently published a report on the Master degree across Europe, following the introduction of the Bachelor - Master degree structure across 46 European countries as part of the Bologna Process. This report is published at a significant moment for Europe’s universities. After a decade of policy discussion and implementation, the contours of the future European Higher Education Area are now clearly visible. Simultaneously, institutions are called upon to lend their weight to a coordinated response to global economic crisis.

1. The Coastal & Marine WIKI: source of professional coastal and marine information
The Coastal & Marine WIKI is an innovative source of up-to-date high quality information on coastal management and marine sciences. The more than 1,100 articles in this Internet encyclopaedia are provided by and for coastal professionals. It was developed within the scope of the European project 'European Network for Coastal Research' or ENCORA

2. Aquaculture Europe 2009 Plenary Speakers
Research has underpinned the significant development of aquaculture over the last three decades and Europe has been a leader. As aquaculture continues to develop, research will undergo fundamental change. Aquaculture Europe 2009 will address this challenge and will provide an international forum to discuss latest research initiatives and new research frontiers. The plenary speakers have now been announced and at present, the conference has received more than 350 abstracts from 42 countries and attendance is expected to be around 500.
