AQUA-TNET News

1. AQUA-TNET well represented in Asia

AQUA-TNET was well represented at the International Symposium on Aquaculture and Fisheries Education (ISAFE), which was held in Thailand last month. Asian institutions are taking an initiative towards establishing an Asian network similar to AQUA-TNET, and input from several AQUA-TNET WP leaders was highly appreciated on topics such as mobility and innovation in teaching. Jean Dhont from Ghent University (Belgium) presented the general aspects of the AQUA-TNET project and Lluis Tort from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (Spain) and WP leader of the Work Package on Mobility highlighted mobility aspects. Innovation in teaching was presented by John Bostock from the University of Stirling (UK) and WP leader of the Work Package on Innovation in Teaching methods. Further links are expected to be established with AQUA-TNET through the AqASEM project which is expected to start in the new year.

Research & Education

1. Call for papers for publication in Aquaculture International

EAS are still very interested to hear from you with regard to their planned new section in the journal, called “Perspectives”. They are looking for papers that shortly describe in which direction a particular area of research is likely to develop.  Papers under “perspectives” would be available free of charge on the website of the journal “Aquaculture International” and would also be advertised in Aquaculture Europe. EAS hope to be able to attract a lot of attention to such articles in this way (to the benefit of the authors and the journal). Knowing that writing articles is time consuming they are encouraging EAS members to send available text that would be more or less ready for publishing. “The state of the art and progress beyond” as required by FP7 or other project proposals could be ideal for that. Please send material to Gavin Burnell at g.burnell@ucc.ie

For EAS members that presented a paper during the AE2009 conference in Trondheim this summer, please also consider its publication in AQUI. Information for authors and submission is available here.
