Work package 4 - New Generic Skills and Competences approaches

Aim: To review the content of generic skills modules within European postgraduate degree programmes, with a view to promoting and sharing best practice and identifying new requirements for those within the network domains

In many postgraduate programmes generic skills training is a very important aspect nowadays. It has been identified that there is a need to ensure that such training meets the needs of employers and fulfil the aspirations of trainees.

Main Objectives:
A.    To survey and synthesise views of stakeholder groups (industry and other employers) as to the generic skills necessary for success in the industry
B.    To consult with academics and others who deliver generic skills teaching, regarding objectives, content and delivery of skills modules; to identify best practice and gaps
C.    To consult with postgraduate students regarding their requirements and experience of skills teaching
D.    To compile recommendations concerning best practice for generic skills modules, and make the results available to the AQUA-TNET members
E.    To identify gaps and new requirements in current postgraduate generic skills training
F.    To design course outlines to meet defined needs and help network partnerships to develop shared courses
G.    To identify best practice in implementing “problem solving” methodology across all aspects of programmes
H.    To identify best practice in Innovation Training methodology and make recommendation on how institutions can incorporate appropriate aspects into their current structures
